Since graduating from the Yoga & Mindfulness teacher Preparation Program, Stu has led many professional learning opportunities focused on self-care, infusing mindfulness, breathing, & yoga practices to build stress resilience, and reduce anxiety & fatigue. In his current role as NYCDOE Administrator of School Counselors for high schools throughout five school districts, including Canarsie, Coney Island, Crown Heights, Bensonhurst, & East Flatbush, Stu has provided SEL strategies grounded in mindfulness & breathing principles for the schools he supports. 

Stu has led ongoing professional opportunities for counselors, social workers, teachers, parent coordinators, school secretaries, and administrators, both in person and remotely via various platforms (Microsoft Teams, Google Hangout, Zoom). He has led several 4-Day Mindfulness & Yoga Intensives, full-staff professional development, workshops for various school cabinets, and department & grade teams. Stu offers weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly professional support. Some of the schools that have received yoga & mindfulness workshops include John Dewey HS, HS of Global Citizenship, Murrow HS, Origins HS, Brooklyn Steam, Boreum Hill HS, PS 69, JHS 278, Shine Shine 399, PS 170, & more. Stu has also offered mindfulness, yoga, & self-care sessions at conferences (CSA Conference 2019) and has begun offering private sessions to families, as well as small businesses and in professional settings.

I’ve been visiting my chiropractor over the last few months, needing adjustments to the upper cervical spine. When I went to the chiropractor today for a scan, he asked what I did today because the scan was nearly perfect. I told him I participated in a chair yoga session. Thanks Stu! – Sophia

Stu, Thank you for another awesome session of yoga and mindfulness with my staff at PS 69.  While there are about 75 staff members participating, there are over 770 students who are benefiting. Our students will learn from teachers who have been given this unique opportunity for professional learning to inform their instruction. I am so grateful. - Jaynemarie
